Our dear mother, Isabel Vasquez, was called home by our Lord Jesus Christ, surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday July 10, 2024 in El Paso, Texas. Isabel was born in Van Horn Texas on September 20,1933. Isabel was a lifelong resident of Van Horn with her husband Vicente of fifty-two years. She was a devout Roman Catholic with strong faith and a member of the Guadalupanas in Van Horn. She was also a lifetime Van Horn Eagle where she played high school basketball and was employed by CCAISD for over 30 years. Isabel enjoyed dancing, playing volleyball and making tortillas for her family. She was a wonderful Wife, Mom, Tia, Grandma, and Great Grandma who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support and love in abundance. Isabel was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She joins her heavenly family that precedes her in passing. Her husband Vicente Vasquez, parents Rito and Remijia Calderon, granddaughter Ashley Nicole Vasquez, and siblings Francisco Calderon and Elena Barrera as well as other brothers and sisters.
Isabel is survived by her four children: Jorge of Van Horn, Richard (Kathleen) of El Paso, Fatima of El Paso and Pablo of Van Horn, granddaughters Tashya, Jennifer, Lisa, and Jorjeen, great grandson Vicente, sisters Adelaida of Oregon and Carmen of El Paso.
A funeral mass was held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church officiated by Father Serjio Legarreta of Van Horn. The burial followed at the Van Horn Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving were Victor Nunez, Brent Easley, Vicente Easley, Jesse Vasquez, Jerry Aumiller Sr. and Fernando Calderon. Honorary pallbearers were Tashya Vasquez, Jennifer Vasquez, Lisa Easley and Jorjeen Vasquez.
