Isabel Jean Young

Isabel Young, age 92 of Northfield, passed away Monday evening, June 23, 2025, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville.
Isabel Jean Young was born March 23, 1933, in Paddock, Minnesota, to Ernest and Ella (Connelly) Kluge. She was raised in Menahga and at the age of 14 moved to Faribault, later returning to Menahga. At the age of 16, she returned to Faribault and took a job as a housekeeper at Shattuck-St. Mary's where she worked for room and board.
While working at Shattuck-St. Mary's, Isabel met Dale Young. On December 12, 1950, Isabel and Dale were married in Wadena, Minnesota. After marriage they made their home in Dundas. In 1962, they established Young's Paint Center in Dundas, and while Dale operated Young Painting, traveling throughout the five-state area, Isabel managed the paint center. In 1993, they sold the businesses to their sons Bruce and Faron and moved to Florida. In 2014, they returned to Minnesota.
Isabel loved baking and cooking and she had a special gift for hospitality. She was always ready with cake or bars, or had something in the freezer ready to prepare. She enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble, traveling, fishing with Dale, volunteering at her church, and caring for her family. When the boys were growing up, she served as a Cub Scout leader for many years, and she was also a member of Al-Anon for over 30 years. Isabel was dearly loved and will be greatly missed as she now has gone home to her heavenly nest.
Survivors include her children Bruce (Lori) of Northfield, Faron of Northfield, Susan (Robbie) Harper of Sandpoint, ID; her grandchildren Isaac, Dylan (Michelle), Anthony (Jen), Gwen (Jasmine) and Brandon; her great-grandchildren Nicholas, Alaya, Avery, Roman and Caitlyn; her brother Virgil; her sisters Angie and Mary Lou; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale in 2019, her son Dart in 1971, her sisters Hazel and Gladys; her brothers Norman, Roger and Gordon; and her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Bierman, Benson & Langehough Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at Noon on Sunday. Interment will be in Groveland Cemetery, Dundas. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren.
