Isaiah Malone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Terry Family Funeral Home - Portland on Jan. 28, 2026.
Isaiah Da'Mon Malone was born March 16, 1982, to John and Charletta Malone in Portland, Oregon, and was welcomed into a family full of love, life, and legacy. Isaiah entered the pre-K program at Sacajawea School and later attended Sabin Elementary. Those early years marked the beginning of a true era in his life - and the start of a new love: Jordans.

From that point on, Jordans became his thing. They weren't just shoes; they were part of his identity, his style, and how he showed up in the world. If Isaiah was stepping out, he was stepping out right.

In 1989, Isaiah was selected for the Talented and Gifted (TAG) program, and from that moment on, a star was born.

In 1992, Isaiah auditioned for a major motion picture with Warner Brothers under the direction of Simon Wincer for the role of Vector, a runaway orphan, in Free Willy. Isaiah did such an outstanding job on his first read that by the time we left the audition and arrived home, there was already a message waiting - he had gotten the part. His smile was huge. He was beyond excited and couldn't wait to experience this new journey and step onto a live film set for the first time.

Just one week later, Isaiah arrived on set to begin filming. John and I stood there as proud parents, watching our son shine and loving every moment of it. Isaiah was so natural in front of the camera that he added a one-liner during filming, which was later written into the script. He wasn't shy - Isaiah loved the spotlight.

Isaiah continued his quest for knowledge, graduating from Sabin Elementary and moving through the hallways of Beaumont Middle School before attending Grant High School. In 2000, Isaiah earned his GED, and in 2001 he attended Job Corps at Tongue Point in Astoria, where he studied business and technology.

In 2003, Isaiah returned home to reconnect with family and friends, and that reconnection sparked another chapter of his life - music. His journey as a rapper began by writing verses for his friend Brandon Jenkins. In 2004, he reconnected with his longtime friend from Beaumont Middle School, Rob Curtis, spending time in the studio writing and recording the verses he created. By 2005, Isaiah joined the group Chef Boyz alongside Rob Curtis, Aaron, and Marcus Woods.

In 2013, Chef Boyz released their CD, and Isaiah commanded the stage with his presence and passion. Music was more than a hobby - Isaiah loved it. He later expanded his artistry by DJing at local clubs with Eric Jenkins, continuing to move the crowd and leave his mark.

In 2014, Isaiah met Bianca Brant (affectionately known as BB), and on June 13, 2015, they welcomed a son, Naray Brant Malone, lovingly called Dewey. From that moment on, Isaiah's life was forever changed. Fatherhood became his focus, and his world revolved around his son. He was a loving, present, and deeply proud father.

In 2020, Isaiah began working for Safeguard Security as a Lead. He made intentional changes in his life to spend more time with Dewey, ensuring his weekends were free for father-son time. Whether they were going to the movies, the mall, Sky Zone, the arcade, or simply lounging around the house, Isaiah cherished every moment spent with his son.

Isaiah was a loving son, devoted father, caring brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was truly loved by many and will be forever missed.

Isaiah leaves to mourn and cherish his life his parents, John and Charletta Malone; brother John A. Malone (JAM); sister Jon'Na Malone; his beloved son, Dewey (Naray Brant Malone); his son's mother, Bianca Brant (BB); sister-in-love Tia Phal; nephews Ja'Miris and Ja'Zierre Malone; and a host of aunties, uncles, cousins who were like brothers and sisters, and close friends.
