Isam Said Asker

Isam Said Asker, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and man of unwavering faith, passed away on September 15, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan. He was 83 years old.
Born on July 24, 1942, in Baghdad, Iraq, Isam's life journey took him across continents but remained rooted in his deep faith and steadfast commitment to family and community. A devout Catholic throughout his life, Isam attended or watched Mass daily and lived a life guided by prayer and acts of service. His faith was not only personal but also outwardly expressed-he was known for sharing small crosses with those he met as a gesture of connection and spiritual encouragement.
Isam built a successful life as a lifelong small business owner. His work ethic was tireless, and his entrepreneurial spirit left a lasting impression on those who knew him. Through dedication and perseverance, he created opportunities not only for himself but also for others around him.
He is remembered fondly for his sharp sense of humor and warm personality. Whether gathered around the poker table or sharing stories with loved ones, Isam brought joy and laughter into every room he entered. His love of poker was more than just a pastime-it was one of many ways he connected with others over the years.
Family was central to Isam's life. He is survived by his son David (Denise), his cherished grandchildren Joshua and Elizabeth, his sister Nakia Haddad, and his brother George (Ibtisam) Askar. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
Isam was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Christine Asker, who passed away in 2023. Their enduring bond remains an inspiration to all who knew them.
A man of deep conviction and compassion, Isam's legacy lives on through the lives he touched-with faith, laughter, hard work, and love.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Funeral Mass will be held on October 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Lucy Catholic Church 23401 Jefferson Ave,. Friends and family are welcome to gather at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
