Isidoro "Izzy" Ferro

Isidoro "Izzy" Ferro, 89, passed away on his birthday surrounded with love from his family on March 3, 2023.
Izzy was born in Benevento, Italy to Antonio and Maria Carmela Ferro. After coming to America when he was 1 years old, he began a new life. He lost his dad at a very young age and was raised by his mom and two brothers. He graduated high school and went on to work for Eastern Savings Bank and then the Department of Transportation in the Bronx. Along the way, he met and fell in love with Fedora. They were married for over 60 years. The love and devotion in their marriage is immeasurable. Izzy and Fedora would go on to have two children, Marie, and Diane.
Izzy was a wonderful and devoted father, husband, grandfather "Poppy" and teacher. He not only raised his girls, but he was a second dad to his grandchildren. Poppy was always there to take care of them and teach them, not only book smarts but just life lessons like being honest. Izzy was unfiltered. When you met him, you got the real Izzy. He was very social and wouldn't feel uncomfortable talking to anyone. People were drawn to his genuine good-hearted nature and he would come home with stories of people he met along the way in a typical day.
Izzy enjoyed spending time with his family, delicious meals his wife would cook and playing cards at the senior center.
Izzy was predeceased by his father, Antonio, his mother, Carmela and two brothers, Danny and Mike. He is survived by his wife, Fedora, his daughters, Marie and Diane, his son-in-law, Richie, his grandchildren, Deanna, Alexa, Krista and Andrew and his great grandchildren, Louis, Nicolette, and Alex.

There will be visitation at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ, from 9:30am - 11:00am on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. A Funeral Mass at 11:30am at St. Elizabeth RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories, 300 Soldier Hill Rd, Township of Washington, NJ.
