1954-2026

Ismael "Melos" Hernandez, 71, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Huntsville on the morning of Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

He was born March 22, 1954 in San Jose de Guadalupe Durango to Atanacio Hernandez Garay and Elida "Mama Mema" Garcia as their oldest son.

A Vigil will take place at his home from 9 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2026 through 9 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2026. Family and friends are invited.

Ismael grew up in Mexico attending school until the third grade.

As a young man, he began working in Texas to send money back to his mother and younger sisters and brothers in Mexico.

He married Elva Trevino Castro on Sept. 28, 1975. Soon after they moved to Huntsville, Texas and made their home on Ave. B. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 28, 2025.

Over the years, he worked in many professions and for many businesses, including at plant nurseries, produce production, auto maintenance, paint and body, carpentry and more.

He was proud of the construction work he did in the 1970s in The Woodlands while the community was being developed.

One of his most treasured jobs was alongside Lupe Rodrigeuz at Rodriguez Paint and Body Shop in Huntsville.

A serious illness in 2001 brought him into retirement.

In retirement, he found joy in visiting with family and friends, grilling, spending time outside on the patio attached to his home, watching movies from his youth and reruns of his favorite TV show "El Chavo Del Ocho." His family, children and grandchildren brought him great pride and happiness. He could also be a jokester and prankster.

He is survived by his wife, Elva, of Huntsville; his children Gerardo (Sondra), of Conroe, and Rosalinda (Jose Francisco "Paco"), of Huntsville; and grandchildren Henry Hernandez and Annie Hernandez of Conroe.

Ismael is also survived by his sisters and brothers and their spouses including Felipa Hernández (Juan/deceased), Arturo Hernández (Esperanza), Maria Del Pilar Núñez (Efrain), Raúl García (Lucy) and Nora Elia García (Victor Manuel).

Many friends, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.

Ismael "Melos" Hernández, de 71 años, falleció pacíficamente mientras dormía en su casa en Huntsville la mañana del miércoles 28 de enero de 2026.

Nació el 22 de marzo de 1954 en San José de Guadalupe Durango, hijo de Atanacio Hernández Garay y Elida "Mama Mema" García como su hijo mayor.

Habrá una vigilia en su casa desde las 9 a.m. del jueves 29 de enero de 2026 hasta las 9 a.m. del viernes 30 de enero de 2026. Están invitados familiares y amigos.

Ismael creció en México y asistió a la escuela hasta tercer curso.

De joven, comenzó a trabajar en Texas para enviar dinero de vuelta a su madre y a sus hermanas y hermanos menores en México.

Se casó con Elva Treviño Castro el 28 de septiembre de 1975. Poco después se mudaron a Huntsville, Texas, y establecieron su hogar en la Ave. B. Celebraron su 50th aniversario de boda el 28 de septiembre de 2025.

A lo largo de los años, trabajó en muchas profesiones y en diversos negocios, incluyendo viveros, producción de productos, mantenimiento de automóviles, pintura y carrocería, carpintería y más.

Se sentía orgulloso de las obras que realizó en los años 70 en The Woodlands mientras la comunidad se desarrollaba.

Uno de sus trabajos más preciados fue junto a Lupe Rodrigeuz en Rodriguez Paint and Body Shop en Huntsville.

Una grave enfermedad en 2001 le llevó a la jubilación.

En su jubilación, encontraba alegría en visitar a familiares y amigos, hacer barbacoas, pasar tiempo al aire libre en el patio anexo a su casa, ver películas de su juventud y reposiciones de su programa de televisión favorito "El Chavo Del Ocho". Su familia, hijos y nietos le trajeron gran orgullo y felicidad. También podía ser un bromista y un bromista.

Le sobreviven su esposa, Elva, de Huntsville; sus hijos Gerardo (Sondra), de Conroe, y Rosalinda (José Francisco "Paco"), de Huntsville; y nietos Henry Hernandez y Annie Hernandez de Conroe.

Ismael también deja en vida a sus hermanas y hermanos y sus cónyuges, entre ellos Felipa Hernández (Juan/fallecido), Arturo Hernández (Esperanza), María Del Pilar Núñez (Efrain), Raúl García (Lucy) y Nora Elia García (Víctor Manuel).

También le sobreviven muchos amigos, sobrinas, sobrinos y primos.
