Italo "Jerry" DiGeronimo Obituary

Italo Americo DiGeronimo, a.k.a. "Jerry", passed away peacefully at his East Moriches, NY estate on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Beloved Uncle to Steven Allured and Gina Byrne and her husband Kevin; cherished Great Uncle to Tyler Byrne (Charlotte) and Conor Byrne (Melanie); and pre-deceased by loving wife Lori, sister Clementina, brother Joseph, and nephew Jonathan.

Born on May 26, 1926 to Italian immigrants Joseph and Rosina, Jerry grew up in East Harlem, attended Purdue University at just 16 years old, and was a longtime resident of Greenwich Village. Jerry was an Army veteran and the proprietor of many successful businesses - book, magazine, and educational film publishing among them. An avid reader, passionate horologist, vintage automotive enthusiast, antique collector, and sports fan, Jerry was a consummate intellectual and a true man of the world.

His thoughtful, profound generosity was only matched by his famously gentlemanly ways and tendency to gift flowers to his favorite ladies. Jerry's kindness and commitment to taking care of those around him made him a treasured staple of his East Moriches community, where he resided since 1980. The wise, often mysterious twinkle in his eye was truly one-of-a-kind. Jerry loved a daily macchiato, old cowboy movies, and watching the sun set over his boathouse. We'll miss you dearly, Uncle Jerry!
