TRIMONT: A Funeral Service for Ivadelle M. "Ivy" Erickson, 92, of St. Paul, Minnesota and formerly of Trimont, Minnesota will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minnesota. Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery in rural Trimont, Minnesota.
Ivadelle was called to her eternal rest on Friday, May 17, 2024 at her home in St. Paul, Minnesota. Visitation will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at the Church in Trimont.
Ivy was born Ivadelle Mae Weber, November 11, 1931, in Triumph-Monterey, Minnesota. She grew up on her parents' (Sarah and Harry Weber) farm north of town with her siblings Keith, Dennis, Irvin, Susie (Carolyn), Paul and Joel. Upon graduating from high school in 1949, she attended Mankato School of Beauty Culture. After getting her license, she worked as a beautician in Blue Earth and Fairmont.
In June of 1951, Ivy and Don were married at Madigan Army Hospital Chapel, on Fort Lewis, Washington, near Tacoma. When Don's Army duty was completed, they moved back to Trimont (Triumph-Monterey then). Don's family lived there too. After about a year, during which their son Ross was born, they moved to Rock Island, Illinois, where Don completed college and daughter Julianne was born. After four years in Rock Island, Don's work took them to Kansas City, Missouri, where daughter Kathryn was born. Don's work with the Internal Revenue Service took the family to Altoona, IA; Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO; Nashville TN, Omaha, NE; and Buffalo, NY. In 1979, Don retired, and he and Ivy moved back to Trimont to be near family.
Ivy was a stay-at-home mom until St. Louis. She began working as a Financial Worker for the Department of Human Services, which turned out to be a career. She continued to work as a Financial Worker in Nashville and Omaha. After moving back to Trimont, she worked for Human Services in Watonwan and Martin counties for fourteen years before retiring. They have lived in St. Paul for the last eighteen years. Don died in March of 2023.
Their son Ross died by suicide in 1991, which devastated the family. Kathryn and Julie have lived in Minnesota since 1981 and remained involved in Don and Ivy's lives. Ivy is preceded in death by husband Donald, son Ross, parents Sarah and Harry Weber, and brother Irvin.
She is survived by daughters Julie and Kathryn, sister Susie, brothers Keith, Dennis, Paul and Joel, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Ivy enjoyed reading, following family on Facebook, playing cards with friends, searching for recipes on the internet, and watching 'Golden Girls' reruns and Netflix's 'Virgin River'. She was smart, strong, and kind; she will be missed.
