Ivan Holsing Obituary

Ivan Earl Holsing was born October 26, 1922 at the Carl Holsing family farm, Wecota, South Dakota. He passed into his heavenly home on January 15, 2023 at the Faulkton Health Care Center, Faulkton, South Dakota. He married Deloris Marie Wagner on October 5, 1946, and lived his life as a farmer, first on his father's farm in Faulk County, and then in Edmunds County on the Lee Wagner farm for two years until he purchased a neighboring farm in 1954, which he farmed and later rented out until his death. This provided the means to support his family of ten children and gave them an appreciation for hard work with the dairy and cattle business. Ivan was a long-time member of the Richland Wesleyan Church, and was best known by his family for his love for the Bible, his ability to recite Scripture and poetry, and his love for Jesus that was evident in his conversations with them.
After his wife's death in 2003, Ivan moved to Rapid City in 2006 and lived with his daughter, Lauralee, for 11 years and then to Holiday Hills Retirement Community until moving back with Lauralee until he was taken to the Faulkton Health Care Center on November 24, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris, and his son Douglas, and is survived by his children: Stuart (Janet) Holsing, Maryville, TN; Joetta (Ward) Koeser, Williston, ND; Peggy (Dan) Galloway, Charlotte, NC; Terry Holsing, Rapid City, SD; Marva Mingledorff, Oklahoma City, OK; Doug's wife, Sherry Holsing of Adamsville, TN; Lauralee Holsing, Rapid City, SD; Keven (Lyuba) Holsing, Mill Creek, WA; Linda (Mark) Joneson, Rapid City, SD; and Rosalee (Dave) Lister, Midland, MI. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, and 39 great-grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Arvid (Jenny) Holsing, Wecota, SD, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family asks that donations may be given in Ivan's name to Wycliffe International (wycliffe.org/donate) or Gideons International (gideons.org).

I never knew a man as inspiring as Ivan. I remember giving him a complement for his selfless life he lived and he never ever took credit for it. It was also the good Lord within him that received the honor for anything Ivan accomplished. What a Christian example.
