Ivan Benjamin (Ben) Perry, age 74, passed away on Christmas day, December 25, 2024. He was born in Houston, Texas, on August 11, 1950, to Ivan Walton Perry, of La Grange, Texas and Josephine Follett Perry, of Providence, RI. He worked for Global Surveyors in Houston and Tri-Tech Engineers in Bellaire. He married Catherine Taylor Bambas in 1976. They later relocated to the Perry family ranch in La Grange where he opened a carpentry shop on the property. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Perry enjoyed a lifetime of hunting deer, dove, quail, and squirrel along with rock climbing, scuba diving, spear fishing and shrimping in the Gulf with family.
Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan Walton and Josephine Perry.
Surviving are his children, Benjamin Taylor Perry and wife Lauren of Houston, Ivan Taylor Perry and wife Anne of Laramie, Wyoming, stepdaughter Dr. Lexi Nolen and husband Eric, of Boulder, CO along three grandsons, Jackson, Landon, and Luke Perry of Houston. He also leaves behind a sister Susan Perry Benson and her husband Dan Benson, of Benson, North Carolina, and nephew Kerry Spitzer of Boulder, CO. Cousins include Pam Perry of Houston, Gordon Perry of Buffalo, Tx., Lauran English of Spring and Penni Dauwalder of Claremont, CA., Mark Roberts of Portland, OR, Warren Follett of Charleston, SC, along with cousins Sally Follett Gullion and Andy Follett of Colchester, VT, Nancy Hammond of Huntington, VT, Peter Follett of Papakou, HI, and Bill Follett of Wilton, Connecticut.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, January 4th at 11 a.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home, 967 E. Colorado St., La Grange, with a visitation being held from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Flowers are welcomed or donations may be made in his name to the Sierra Club or the World Wildlife Fund.
