Ivan Dale Riggenbach, age 92, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in Jacksboro, Texas. He was born on December 26, 1932, in Sardis, Ohio, to Lester W. and Lorena (Schnell) Riggenbach.
Ivan married the love of his life, Mary McDougal, on July 18, 1953, in Seville, Ohio. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a tank driver in Germany. After returning home, Ivan and Mary settled in Seville, where they raised their three daughters-Linda, Patty, and Donna. After retiring from a gas plant, Ivan went on to work at Denny's, simply because he loved being around people and never met a stranger. Altogether, he worked for an incredible 88 years, continuing until his health no longer allowed him to. Ivan was also a firefighter for 42 years, a councilman in Seville, and involved in Little League.
Ivan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Riggenbach; his daughter, Linda Schmucker; and his parents, Lester and Lorena Riggenbach.
He is survived by his daughters, Patty Bennett and husband Dave, and Donna Riggenbach; grandchildren, Chester Zielinski and wife Charla, Christine Hankin and husband Ralla, and Stephanie Riggenbach; great-grandchildren, Katie and Abby Zielinski, Trey Budarf, and Raegen Southerland; siblings, Willis Riggenbach, Darwyn Riggenbach, Glenn Riggenbach, and Laura Cullup; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation was previously held at Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman with Pastor Tom Chmura officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 1:45 PM on Tuesday.
