Iven Leroy Gwinn Sr.

Iven Leroy Gwinn, Sr., 77, of Carlinville, passed away Sunday morning, March 29, 2026 at Carlinville Area Hospital.

Iven "Buster" was born on August 27, 1948 to Iven H. Gwinn and Juanita (Neal) Rosentreter in Virden, IL. On October 13, 1966 he married Yvonne Marie Seago at the First Assembly Church. She preceded him in death on January 1, 2025. Together they had two children, Iven Leroy "Bear" Gwinn Jr. and Dawn Michelle Gwinn.

Iven joined the US Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War. Upon completion of his service, Iven "Buster" came home and became a union millwright for Pillsbury in Springfield, IL where he worked for 19 years until its closing in 1991. After his job at Pillsbury, Iven became an over the road truck driver for Schwerman Trucking in Meredosia, IL. Later, he hauled agricultural chemicals for Brandt in Raymond, IL for several years in his retirement. Iven "Buster" enjoyed woodworking, gardening, classic country music, and taking motorcycle trips with Yvonne all over the country. He was a master craftsman who could fix anything and had a passion for building things, including the two family homes where he and Yvonne lived and raised their children.

Iven was preceded in death by his parents, Iven H. Gwinn and Juanita Rosentreter, his wife, Yvonne Marie Gwinn, brothers, Randy Gwinn, Larry Gwinn and Kenny Kohart, sisters, Juanita Reuter, Connie Cole and Gwen Lowe.

Iven is survived by his son, Iven Leroy "Bear" (Stacey) Gwinn, Jr. of Virden, IL; daughter, Dawn Michelle Gwinn of Atwater, IL; two granddaughters, Jillian Neel and Autumn Gwinn; three great-grandsons, Peyton, Phillip, and Tyler Judge; two brothers, Gary W. (Audrey) Gwinn of Carlinville, IL and Gerald W. Gwinn of Paragould, AR; his beloved dog Max; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Friday, April 3, 2026, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, IL.

Burial will follow at 11:00 am at Bethel Ridge Cemetery in Atwater, IL.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
