Ivie Dodd Bates Antley

June 8, 1937 – September 30, 2025

Ivie Dodd Bates Antley, age 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. For the past fourteen months, she resided in Boerne, Texas, with her daughter. She was formerly a longtime resident of Point/Downsville, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church (2396 LA 552, Downsville, LA 71234). Interment will follow at Acree Cemetery in the Point community. Family prayer and viewing will begin at 1:30 p.m., and community visitation will take place from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church.

Services will be officiated by Pastor James Tarrance and Pastor Bruce McGee, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. Pallbearers will include Ethan Whitehead, Brock Adkins, Robbie Antley, Brandon Antley, and Bradley McFarlin.

Born in Farmerville, Louisiana, on June 8, 1937, Ivie was preceded in death by her first husband of 22 years, Donald Ray Bates of Delhi; her second husband of nearly 40 years, Billy "Sonny" Antley of Point; her parents, Earl Dodd Sr. and Berdie Patrick Dodd of Union Parish; and all of her siblings except her beloved sister, Virginia Dodd Whitlock who is living in West Monroe.

She is survived by her children, Richard Bates (Martha) of Carefree, Arizona, and Donna Bates Uptergrove of Boerne, Texas; three grandchildren, Kathryn Harris (Melvin) of Houston, Texas, Kaley Doherty (Neil) of Boerne, Texas, and Donald Bates of Scottsdale, Arizona; and five great-grandchildren, Casey and Carson Harris, and Alyssa, Levi, and Luke Doherty.

Through marriages that ended too soon, leaving Ivie widowed twice, she was also blessed with a large extended family. Over the years Ivie gained sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who loved her dearly.

Ivie was a devoted follower of Christ and a faith member of Providence Baptist Church, where she served joyfully for many years. Her Bible and Women's Group study was often open beside her on the lamp table, a quiet reflection of her daily walk with the Lord.

During her 22 years in Perryton, Texas, she worked as the bookkeeper for Corner Drug and Jewelry, and later spent over 40 years with the Walker family at Northeast Truck and Trailer in Monroe, Louisiana.

Known affectionately as "Mamaw", Ivie found joy in reading, watching hummingbirds at her feeders, enjoying Wheel of Fortune and Hallmark movies, following sports, and keeping busy with her bookkeeping work, which she loved far more than cooking. She especially loved golf cart rides through the pastures and waiting to see who the next visitor in her home might be---always ready to wave, smile, and welcome in, as she was "Mamaw to Most".

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Providence Baptist Church Acree Cemetery Fund, a cause close to Ivie's heart.
