Vincent Funeral Home - AbbevilleABBEVILLE - A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Reverend Matthew Barzare will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, honoring the life of Ix Joseph Romero, 94, who passed away on December 6, 2025, at The Vermilion At Eastridge Assisted Living, surrounded by his loving family. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery alongside his wife. Readers will be Emily Mire, Karly Segura and Trenton Romero and Gift bearers will be Deanna Broussard, Patricia Suire and Kurt Romero. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Chad Broussard, Nathan Romero, Trenton Romero, Karly Segura, Kody Meaux and Landon Derouen.
A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 8:30 AM until 10:15 AM, when the procession departs for church. with a rosary being prayed at 9:30 AM.
Ix was born in Abbeville, LA to the late Remy Romero and the late Leonida Maturin Romero. Ix was a very loving father who always took care of his family. He served in the National Guard, was employed by Napa Auto Parts for forty nine years. Ix for many years he showed and raised pigeons, won many trophies and awards at many in town and out of State Shows. Also made a garden for many years.
He is survived by his daughters, Deanna R. Broussard (Kenneth); and Patricia R. Suire (Freddie); his son, Kurt Romero (Joan); grandchildren, Heather Landry; Chad Broussard; Lori Broussard; Nathan Romero (Allie); Ashley Meaux (Kody); Trenton Romero (Julie); Emily Mire (Baine); and Karly Segura. Also surving are fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded by his loving wife of seventy three years, Beverly Frederick Romero; his parents, Remy Romero and Leonida Maturin Romero; his son-in-law, Gregory Suire; his sister, Lona Romero Meaux; nephews, Lester Meaux and Jimmy Richard and niece Anna Cessac.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to The Vermilion at Eastridge Assisted Living and Staff for their execptional care and compassion they provided during his time of need. Also to Hospice of Acadiana for their care and compassion during his final days. Also the family would like to thank Betty Miller and Bonnie LeLeux for their care they gave our Dad in his time of need.
