ABBEVILLE - Funeral services officiated by Pastor Joe Boutin will be held at Vincent Funeral Home – Abbeville, at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 12, 2025, honoring the life of Velma Broussard Constantin, 87, who passed away on December 7, 2025. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mitchell Pommier, Ryan Pommier, Charles Thibodeaux, Danny Arabie, Dave Cooper, and Mark LaGrange.
A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM, Pastor, Chad Romero of Praise Church will offer words of praise at 7:00 PM; and continue on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 8:00 AM concluding at 10:30 AM, at which time Pastor Joe will deliver the eulogy. Wade Benson Landry will perform "Amazing Grace" during the service.
Velma was a woman of unwavering strength and grace, embodying kindness and compassion in every aspect of her life. Her love for family was evident in her dedication and her joyful presence at gatherings, where she was known as a social butterfly who never met a stranger. Her faith in God was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a true servant of the Lord, regularly praying for her children and grandchildren. Velma’s radiant spirit shone through in her attention to detail, always dressing impeccably with her hair and nails perfectly attended to. Her warm relationships with her pastors reflected her commitment to her faith and community.
She is survived by her three sons, Ricky J. Pommier and his fiance, Celia Langlnais, Kenneth J. Pommier and his wife, Tina, and Douglas C. Pommier and his best friend, Charles Thibodeaux; daughter, Brenda Faye Pommier and her fiance, Mark B. LaGrange; four grandchildren, Braxton Pommier, Mitch Pommier, Ryan Pommier, and Erika Pommier; sister-in-law, Joyce D. Broussard; and her fur grandbaby, Ashton.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kim Pommier; daughter, Debra Garcia; husband, Howard John Constantin; grandson, Blake Matthew Pommier and Anthony Joseph Nunez,; daughter-in-law, Karen Labit Pommier; parents, Marsule Broussard and the former Odile Lavergne; and the father of her children, Douglas Camille Pommier.
The family would like to give special thanks to Monica Meche, a dear friend they could not have managed without, and to Natalie with Hospice of Acadiana for her compassionate care.
