ABBEVILLE - Funeral services will be held AT 2:30 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Vincent Funeral Home – Abbeville, honoring the life of Howard John Constantin, 90, who passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Burial to follow at Saint Paul Cemetery, Jacqulyn St., Abbeville. He was born in Indian Bayou, La. On October 20, 1934.
Howard was a hardworking man but would take time for vacations with his family. He enjoyed going to Holly Beach for vacation or would just go to spend the weekend camping, shrimping, fishing, and enjoying time with the family. He loved taking the family to Lake Charles Beach along with his siblings, Gloria and Calice, and their families. He always loved music and loved playing, especially his guitar & accordion. He enjoyed playing in the Le Fond Du Bayou Band with his friends. You could see the smile on his face because he enjoyed playing and watching, knowing he made people happy. He loved to dance with his loving wife, Velma, who always enjoyed watching him play and being with him because he was full of fun.
Howard was a handyman. He loved to tinker in his shed. He had many projects that involved wood and metal that he would come up with something creative, like his freon bottle bar-b-que pits and his homemade blower. You could not purchase these items like this anywhere. They were unique items, and he took pride in his inventions.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Velma Broussard Pommier Constantin; daughters, Janice Constantin Brooks (the late Jay), and Cindy Constantin Cooper(Dave); son, Robert Constantin; stepchildren whom he cared for and loved as his own children, Ricky Pommier (the late Karen), Brenda Pommier(Mark), Kenneth Pommier(Tina), Douglas “Boo Boo” Pommier, Jr.; sisters, Anna Lou Thibodeaux (the late J.B.), and Gloria Thibodeaux (the late Donald); brother, Mike Constantin; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; along with many Godchildren, nieces, and nephews. His family will forever cherish the memories he created, inspiring them to live life to the fullest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calice Constantin, Sr. and the former Leah Trahan; sister, Vivian Matt (the late Mutt); brothers, James Constantin (the late Evelyn), and Calice Constantin Jr. (JoAnn); sister, Mary Cutrer (the late Robert), great grandchild, Chase Cooper and Matthew Cooper; stepson, Kim Pommier; stepdaughter, Deborah Pommier Garcia; and grandson, Tony Nunez.
