Richard Stephens Wiley Sr., age 54, passed away on February 28, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Bradenton, Florida, but called Baton Rouge, Louisiana, home for many years. Richard was an avid fisherman and talented woodworker who found joy in working with his hands. He loved tending to his chickens and vegetable garden while spending time outdoors. He will be remembered for his hardworking nature and the love he had for his family.
He is survived by his father, Martin George Wiley; his brother, George Thomas Wiley II; his children, Christine Wiley Beyer, Richard Stephens Wiley II, Clayton Michael Wiley, and Ashton Lee Brasseaux-Wiley; his niece, Erin Michelle Wiley; his nephew, George Thomas Wiley III; his Aunt Nina Wiley; his cousin, Edward Wiley-Jones; and wife, Ashley Brasseaux Wiley.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia McCarty Stowe; his aunt, Rosemary Wiley; and his uncle, Thomas Wiley.
In honor of Richard, a small memorial service will be held to celebrate his life, with details to be announced later.
