J. Richard Fleming, Jr, age 68, of Long Beach, passed away on November 11, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki Fleming; his father, John Richard Fleming, Sr; and his mother, Madeline Fleming. 

He is survived by his siblings, Philip Fleming (Susan), Cindy Bammert (Dave), Sandy Blanchard (Paul), and Candy Metcalf (Brian); his step-sons, Michael Marks and Bradley Marks; his step-grandchildren, Corbin Patton and Nathan Marks; and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Fleming was born on October 16, 1956, in Key West, FL, was a graduate of North Kingston High School in 1974. He was an avid reader, loved history, loved the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, and loved cooking. His nickname was “Batman” and he was a beloved brother and friend and was a cherished spouse.

He was of the catholic faith. 

He faced each day of a 10 year battle with cancer with courage, perseverance, and a smile, showing us all what it means to live life fully, no matter the challenges. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 pm, Monday, November 18, 2024, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E Beach Blvd, Long Beach.

The family would like to thank the staff at Inhabit Hospice for their care and concern and to Rickey Whitmere for his dedication and support that he has shown to our brother.
