Marquis Joiquim Knight was born at University Hospital in Newark, NJ on March 31, 1985. Marquis was a proud father, son, brother and cherished member of a loving family.

As a child, he moved to Willingboro, NJ with his family where he attended Garfield East Elementary. He later moved to East Orange where he spent many years living with and lovingly caring for his late grandmother, Annie Knight, who held a very special place in his heart.

Marquis graduated from Fort Dix Youth Challenge Academy Military base in Burlington County, NJ. After graduating with honors, Marquis was recruited into the United States Navy where he was active duty from 2002-2006. During his time in the Navy, Marquis bravely served in the Iraq War demonstrating courage, dedication, and a deep sense of service to his country.

Following his military service, Marquis settled in New Rochelle, NY, where he built a career with the UPS and dedicated the last 10 years of his life as a valued and hardworking member of the community.

Marquis was an avid gamer who embraced every challenge with excitement. Beyond his love for gaming, he had a gift for conversation, sharing wisdom, laughter, and stories with anyone willing to listen. To speak with Marquis was to feel truly seen; he gave his full attention, never breaking eye contact, and his words carried honesty and heart. He has a way of making everyone around him feel valued, understood and connected. Marquis also had a passion for art, drawing and graphic design, where his creativity and talent shined brightly. He was the kind of person who would always check in to make sure others were doing well. One of his greatest joys was playing basketball, where he excelled and was known for his skills on the court.

Marquis is survived by his parents, Margo Knight (mother) and Edward Clanton Jr (father); He leaves behind his five children: Andre, Jaden, Darius, Autumn and Marquis Jr. He also leaves behind his grandfather, Jessie Knight; his sisters, Shareace Davis and Chevanie Smith; his niece, Mikaela Pink; his aunts, Adrienne (Craig), Catherine (Larry), Barbara, Sierra, Briana, Carolyn, Michelle, Joan and Renae. He is also survived by his uncles, Keith, Robert and David; his cousins, Haneef, Craig, Jamile, Cecily, Corey, Nia, Avery and a host of many other family and friends and co-workers who he loved deeply.
