J.R. "Ronnie" Huddleston, age 81, of Palestine, Texas passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at his home. Ronnie was born in Palestine on May 8, 1944, to parents Finnis Willard Huddleston and Irene Hughes Cooper. He had lived in Anderson County all his life.
Ronnie was a Christian who truly loved his Lord and Savior. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 34 years as a machine operator. Ronnie was one of the first guys in Anderson County having a snow cone truck in the area. After many long hours of working at the railroad, he could not wait to get in his snow cone truck and go through the neighborhoods to see all the town kids. After his retirement, Ronnie enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Finnis and Irene Huddleston; and a daughter, Candice Rae Huddleston. He is survived by his life partner, Arlene Long of Palestine; son, Darrell Ray Huddleston and wife Sondra of Willis; brother, John Huddleston and wife Kathleen of Kittery, Maine; sisters, Grace Puckett of Huntsville, Sharon Balensiefen of Tyler, and Linda Evers of Tyler, half-sister, Malorie Hirsch and husband Mark of Austin; 3 grandchildren, Cody Pangburn, Justin Huddleston, and Dylan Huddleston; 5 great-grandchildren, Abby, Juliette, Maverick, Zarah, and Wesson; and other family members.
Graveside services for Ronnie Huddleston are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart with Bro. Joe Paul Fox officiating. Services are under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home in Palestine.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be his Union Pacific Railroad family, grandsons, and nephews.
