John William "Bill" Leech, 86, passed away on July 8, 2025, in Round Mountain, Texas. Born on August 15, 1938, in Brownsville, Texas, Bill lived a life marked by quiet strength, enduring faith, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of God's creation.
He graduated from the University of Houston in 1962 with a degree in Physical Education and played center for the university's football team-an experience that reflected his lifelong love of sports and fellowship. After college, he began his career as a high school football coach at Memorial High School before transitioning into a successful career in sales, where his outgoing nature and love for connecting with others thrived.
A devoted follower of Christ, Bill was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Marble Falls. His faith was the cornerstone of his life and guided him in service to others. In his later years, he found purpose in handcrafting knives and donating the proceeds to Samaritan's Purse-transforming his talents into acts of compassion.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed salt water fly fishing on the Texas coast. He also enjoyed the focus and camaraderie of hunting and competitive shooting. These pursuits brought him joy and strengthened bonds with those around him. His love for the outdoors extended to his grandchildren, with whom he shared treasured moments teaching them to fish, hunt, and shoot - passing down both skills and values.
Bill shared his life with his beloved wife, Cindi Darragh Leech. He is remembered by daughters Melissa Leech Kimble (husband Billy Kimble) and Patricia Leech Robinson (husband Ross Robinson); stepdaughters Whitney Darragh Moldenhauer (husband Craig) and Shea Darragh Moyer (husband Brad); stepson Ty Darragh (wife Amanda); and grandchildren USAF Capt. Conrad Kimble, Clay Robinson, Cullen Robinson, Patrick Robinson, Kyndal Moyer, Kelsea Moyer, Taytum Moldenhauer, Renden Moldenhauer, Emma Darragh, and Abby Darragh.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 11, 2025, at First Baptist Church Marble Falls, 901 La Ventana Drive. Lunch for family members and out-of-town guests will begin at 12:30 PM; the service will follow at 2:00 PM. A live stream video of the service can be watched at http://DiscoverFirst.com/memorial.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse at http://www.samaritanspurse.org or to The First Baptist Church of Marble Falls to the Missions Fund or the 2025 Flood Relief at https://fbcmf.churchcenter.com/giving.
