John Wayne Fulmer, 83, of Prosperity, widower of Kathy Fulmer, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
Born on October 6, 1940, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Eddie Leroy and Lillie Mae Barrett Fulmer. He was a US Navy veteran and was retired from Allied Chemical Company. Wayne was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church where he was in the Adult Sunday School Class and actively involved with the Lutheran Men as long as he was able. He was in the Macedonia Goldies.
Wayne was also a member of the Lake Murray Senior Bass Club and a life member of B.A.S.S. He was a past member of the Fairview Fire Department.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed deer hunting. He and Kathy enjoyed riding around Dreher Island.
His family was important to him especially his one and only granddaughter, Makenna. Wayne enjoyed staying busy and was often found tinkering around in his yard.
He is survived by his daughters, Sally (Steven) Turner of Chester and Mary (Kenny) Lipsey of Prosperity; a sister, Dianne (Wayne) Vining of West Columbia; a brother, Eddie C. (Debby) Fulmer of Prosperity; a granddaughter, Makenna Lipsey and a sister-in-law, Vonnie Fulmer. Wayne was predeceased by brothers, James Fulmer, Heyward Fulmer and Jerry Fulmer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Hundley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Active pallbearers will be Garry Schilling, Christy Fulmer, Danny Fulmer, Billy Fulmer, Tim Hall, Allen Fulmer, Mark Kirkpatrick, Brian Fulmer and Jason Ruch.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Macedonia Goldies and the Lake Murray Senior Bass Club.
Memorials may be made in Wayne’s memory to Macedonia Lutheran Church, 49 Macedonia Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127, or the Mid-Carolina High School Fishing Team, 377 Cy Schumpert Road, Prosperity, SC 29127
