Molly Kednocker Obituary

Molly Kednocker

October 4, 1946 - March 8, 2026

Pomaria, South Carolina - Molly Janet Kednocker, 79, died Sunday, March 8, 2026, at her beloved family home in Pomaria, South Carolina. Born on October 4, 1946, in Roanoke, VA, she was the daughter of the late Howard E. Bush and Juanita Parsons Bush. "Mrs. Molly," as she was affectionately known, was born in Vinton, Virginia. She grew up with a true love of animals, particularly horses. Her grandfather Howard Muse Bush was a giant figure in her life. His work ethic with creating Clover Creameries in the Shenandoah Valley stayed with her for life.

She met the true love of her life, Holly Kednocker, at the University of South Carolina. They married on May 26, 1966. She loved him fiercely. Her life's greatest work and joy was being a mother to their six children. Her love for children extended not only to her own, but also other people's children. She kept the nursery for many years at Central United Methodist Church and had a great love for little babies. For many years, Mrs. Molly was also a preschool teacher for the three-year-old classroom at Lewis Memorial Methodist Preschool.

When her husband Holly begin fighting his second round of cancer in 2016, she fought alongside him with an unmatched fierce tenacity until he passed in August 2016. For the next decade, she continued to be the matriarch of the Kednocker family, planning the yearly family events to include her famous Kednocker Easter Egg Hunt with big feasts at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her mantra was always, "The best is yet to be." She fought courageously for many years against a longtime illness, always believing and betting on herself to beat it. She would always say, "Fight, fight fight." While her family will miss forever, the family knows with confidence that Mrs. Molly was correct. The best was "yet to be" and she is resting in eternal peace in Heaven fully restored with her soulmate Holly, a reunion of two souls intertwined through eternity.

She is predeceased in death by her husband of 50 years, Holly Timothy Kednocker. She is survived by a son, Scotty Holly (Melissa) Kednocker of Little Mountain; daughters, Tammy Kednocker of Pomaria, Dr. Melony Atwood of Cedar City, Utah, Christy Kednocker Sustakovitch of Greenville, Amy Kednocker Van Horne of Lexington, SC and Terry (Matthew) Kednocker Bentley of Davidson, NC. Mrs. Molly's thirteen grandchildren include David and Emily Covington, Luke and Lily Anne Sustakovitch, Emma, Julia and Kate Van Horne, Ethan, Caroline and Joel Bentley and Eli, Eva and Anna Mae Kednocker. In July 2020, she wrote, "All thirteen of my grandchildren are the joy of my life. Lots of love, Grandma."

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home located at 1724 Main Street, Newberry, SC 29108. The family will receive friends immediately before the funeral service between 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Little Mountain, SC.
