Jack D. Ackerson Sr., 79, of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Franklin General Hospital. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Monday, February 2, at Woodley Funeral Home, Dumont. Interment will be at Allison Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday morning 9 – 11 am, at the Funeral Home.

Jack D. Ackerson Sr. was born April 28, 1946, in Cedar Falls, son of Frank and Geraldine (Saul) Ackerson. He grew up in New Hartford, graduating from New Hartford High School in 1964.

On November 27, 1964, Jack was united in marriage with Linda Groen at the New Hartford Baptist Church. They spent their lives together farming in Franklin and Butler counties.

Jack was a hardworking man who spent his life providing for those he loved. He found joy in fishing and hunting and had a keen interest in buying and selling farm equipment. Most of all, Jack cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda; sons: Jack, Jr (Judy) Ackerson, Bristow, IA; Clint (Molly) Ackerson, Iowa Falls, IA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Clay Ackerson; Keely (Zach) Hanson and daughter Emma; Austin Ackerson; Amanda Ackerson and children Desmond Johnson & Ella Johnson; Lisa (Josh) Salmonson and daughter Chloe; Travis DeGroote and sons Trendon and Caspin; Jamie (Ronnie) Edmondson and sons Remington and Ryder; Tanner (Maria) Ackerson and children Asher, Dawson and Avery; Jes (Ryon) Appel and children Ashton and Atley; Kylie (Carter) Hoff and children Brooks, Haven and Scottie; Riley Burke; Ali Ackerson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Geraldine Ackerson, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bill and Annabelle Groen, son Gary, siblings Joe Ackerson, David Ackerson and Dianne Coates.
