Jack E. Ashton, 86 of Girard, died on Monday September 22, 2025 at his home.
He was born March 22, 1939 a son to the late Lewis and June (Fairweather) Ashton.
Jack grew up in Albion, where he helped and played as his parents ran the local store. Jack was a graduate of Northwestern High School. Following his early education, he began a long career with LORD Corporation. With strong dedication and initiative, he expanded his knowledge in engineering, ultimately retiring early as a Developmental Engineer.
Jack was a devoted husband and father, eager to pass down the knowledge and wisdom he had gained throughout his life. Generous and humble, he lived with quiet grace and was a steady pillar to those around him. His focus was never on himself, but on serving and supporting others.
Jack loved his animals and the outdoors. He enjoyed venturing into the wilderness, but his greatest passion was boating. He treasured time spent on Lake Erie with family and friends, where some of his happiest memories were made.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Winne) Ashton whom he married on April 22, 1961; and a sister, Gayle Allen.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his family, which include his sons, Jack E. Ashton II (Penny Fuller), and Michael S. Ashton; grandchildren, Maggy, Clara, Noah, Wolfgang, Spencer, and Ethan Ashton; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Mason, and Elliot Ashton.
