Born April 10, 1933 in Chengwentana Township, Pine County, Minnesota to William H. and Lydia (Nichols) Baker, passed away October 22, 2025 in St. Paul, Minnesota; surrounded by family.
When Jack was 20 years old, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army and serving in the Korean war. During his years in the service, he embodied courage, honor, and dedication. Values he carried with him throughout his life.
After serving his country, Jack married Jocelyn Lans in 1955 and devoted himself to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His greatest joy was spending time with those he cherished most.
Jack worked for Northwestern Bell telephone company, and retired from Mountain Bell after 32 years.
Whether it was a family gathering, holiday, or simply watching sports together, he found happiness in the simple moments. He enjoyed sports, painting, with acrylics and oils, woodworking, being a scout leader, square dancing, deer hunting with his brother and sons, being a brother in Christ, and for more than two decades devoted his time and heart to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, working tirelessly to support victims, raise awareness, and advocate for safer communities.
Jack is proceeded in death by his parents, William and Lydia Baker; his siblings, James, Letty, Fred, Kaye; his children, Charles, Jeanne, Bradley; grandchildren, Kristi and Kyle.
Survived by his wife of 70 years, Jocelyn "Jo" Lans Baker; his children, Dorinda "DeeDee" (Mark) Anderson, and Douglas Baker; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild and many loved ones.
