Jack T. Baldwin, Ph.D.

Jack T. Baldwin was born in Abilene, Texas, to Roland P. Baldwin and Betty Fulwiler Baldwin on October 6, 1945. Shortly after his birth, the family with his brother Chris moved to Odessa, Texas. When school age, he rode the school bus to various elementary schools, then attended Bonham Junior High. He graduated from Permian High School in 1964 as its Valedictorian.
He attended the University of Texas at Austin where he majored in Mathematics and minored in English and German. In 1967 he earned his Bachelor of Arts with Honors degree. He has been a life member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. Upon graduation, he worked for IBM NASA during the summer of 1967 before returning to Austin to attend graduate school while working for the IBM Office Products Division in Austin. He received his PhD in Computer Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin in 1976.
In the fall of 1975, he joined the faculty at the University of Nebraska Omaha as one of its Computer Science Assistant Professors in the Department of Mathematics, one of only three computer science faculty at that time. After four years, he left to work for Applied Communications (ACI) in Omaha and then moved to Chicago in 1979 to help start the first ACI branch office.
In 1981, he returned to Omaha and then joined the computer science faculty at Creighton University.
In 1986, Jack and his wife, Lynne J. Baldwin started a software company (BHMI) specializing in large custom systems. Over time, BHMI added a software product in the payments space called Concourse Financial Software Suite to its offerings. Jack has been the Chairman and CFO since 1986.
Jack succumbed to leukemia after a long year of promising treatments. He is survived by his wife Lynne, who also holds a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin, and is President of BHMI. They have been married for 57 years.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Betty Baldwin; his brother, Chris Baldwin; and sister-in-law, Bunnye Baldwin.
He is survived by his nieces, Crystye Baldwin and Karrye Baldwin (spouse, Ty Melton); and many cousins.
He was a philanthropic contributor to many conservation and animal support groups such as The Nature Conservancy, the Humane Society (Odessa, Texas), the PAWS Cat Rescue Haven House (Odessa, Texas), the Nebraska Humane Society (Omaha, Nebraska), the Henry Doorly Zoo (Omaha, Nebraska), and in the last few years, the Nebraska Wildlife Rehab organization's Baldwin Wildlife Center here in Omaha.

Jack requested cremation and that there be no formal service; however, Lynne is inviting friends and family to a VISITATION at West Center Chapel at 7805 W Center Road, Omaha, NE 68124, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Thursday July 24, 2025, to celebrate his life.
