Mr. Jack Houston Barr, 65, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his farm on Thursday, October 2, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Jack was born June 4, 1960, in LaGrange, Georgia, the son of Lee Houston Barr, Jr. and Nita Jackson Barr. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1978 and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Sciences from the University of Georgia. A talented builder and craftsman, Jack owned and operated Jack Barr Construction, where he worked as a contractor known for his skill and creativity.

A man of many gifts, Jack had a deep love for both music and nature. He played and sang in the worship band at Carrollton First Methodist Church for 25 years and performed with groups including Crosswalk, The Surf, Crews and Company, and Watusi Rodeo. He found joy in playing guitar and piano, writing songs, and sharing his love of music with others. Beyond music, Jack enjoyed fishing, carpentry, farming, designing, and art-always finding ways to celebrate the beauty of creation. Above all else, Jack was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and "Pa" to his grandchildren, who were his greatest pride and joy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elle Barr; daughters and sons-in-law, Erin and Don Riggins, and Elizabeth and Mark Sanders; parents, Lee and Nita Barr; sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Stephen Blackburn; grandchildren, Rory, Lhana, Gus, Sloan, Elsie Jo, Sadie, Hugh, and Hutch; stepchildren, Daniel Vega, Laura Vega, Genasis Vega, and Dayana Vega. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Meredith Barr, and his son-in-law, Jim Porter.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Almon Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow the visitation at 4:00 p.m. at Carrollton First Methodist Church with Pastor Travis Sneed and Rev. Tim Reeve officiating. His daughters, Erin Riggins and Elizabeth Sanders, will share remarks honoring their father. A private family inurnment will be held at Tyus Baptist Church Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will include Greg Jackson, Stephen Blackburn, JB Hopkins, Mark Maloney, John Pehrson, Andy Marlatt, Brian Crews, Daniel Vega, Mark Sanders, Don Riggins, Gus Porter, and Hugh Sanders.
