John "Jack" R. Baxter 85, of Marinette passed away early morning on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 28, 1940, to the late Samuel and Luella (Prefontaine) Baxter in Marinette and graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in 1958. Jack married his high school sweetheart Carol LaLonde on February 10, 1962, at St. Joseph's Church. He worked for Red Owl for 19 years and then Carpenter Cook/Fairway Foods for 24 years, retiring on May 11, 1999. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, time outdoors, traveling, country line dancing, and spending time with the family, especially the grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol Baxter; daughters, Jackie Baxter of Marinette and Lisa (Mike) Sbonik of TX; brother, Robert (Sue) Baxter; sister, Cathy Duncan; grandchildren: Jake, Olivia, Grace, Kaela, Adam, and Ali; and great grandchildren, Mia and Lane. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Luella (Larry) Saylor.
Visitation will be held on Saturday October 25th at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph's Church on Carney Blvd from 10-11am. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am with Rev. Celestine Byekwaso. Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
The family would like to thank Oconto Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice for their loving care.
