Jack Robert Bowman passed away January 21, 2025.
He was born in Mannheim Germany, January 17, 1946 to James Sheridan Bowman and Marie (Steyer) Bowman. He lived in Germany until April 1957 when he, his mother and siblings Collette, Jim and Charlie came to America. The family first stayed in Charlotte, NC before going to Fort Benning, Columbus GA. Jack developed a love and skill for football, especially when he learned the game at Baker High School in Columbus before moving to Louisville to play for Southern High school in his Junior and Senior year (Southern High School Class of 1964).
He attended Western Kentucky University before joining the Navy through the reserves in 1964. He served proudly in Vietnam on the USS Franklin D Roosevelt in the Gulf of Tonkin where he became a member of the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club as well as the Honorable Order of Shellbacks. After leaving the Navy and various career paths, he settled on accounting and proudly received his degree from the University of Louisville in 1980. He was a University of Louisville fan his entire life. He used that accounting degree to work for the Internal Revenue Service until his retirement in 2007. He loved boating, being on the water, scuba diving, golf, friends and family. Whenever we watch The U of L Cardinals play we will think of him and him cheering them on from his chair.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Collette Thomas (Donnie), his brother Jim Bowman, and his niece Patricia Cook.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughter Christine Bowman, his brother Charlie Bowman (Teresa), his niece Jennifer Khalil (Mina) and nephew Charlie Bowman (Robin). Also his beloved and lifelong friend, Donna Campbell. Many friends from all chapters of his life will remember him fondly.
A memorial will be held February 28, 2025 from 3-7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home in Middletown KY. Flowers welcome but live plants preferred.
