Jack F. Casad, long-time resident of Birmingham and Troy, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024. He was a founding member, prior president and current member of the Troy Community Lion's club. Jack was predeceased by his wife of 56 years Patricia (2018) and his son Richard (2021).
He is survived by his children Kathy and Jim Gelement and Cheryl Casad. As well as his grandchildren Rob and Megan Casad, Jamie and Bethanie Gelement, Jessica Casad, and Amanda Casad and his six great grandchildren, Cooper, Harper, Parker (Gelement), Ella, Everly (Casad), and Logan (Casad).
He is also survived by his niece, Vickie and Vince Patrone, and his beloved friend and companion, Mary Ellen Harris, in addition to his many other family members and friends.
Jack, a Master Electrician with IBEW Local 58, successfully ran and operated Type Electric along-side his wife Pat and son Rick. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and making new friends. If you were near him, he was striking up a conversation with you and by the time the conversation was over you were laughing.
A member of SALT Church, Jack was a very devoted Christian and prayed daily reciting the Martin Luther's Morning and Evening Prayers. He was a dedicated husband, loving Father, and endearing Papa and great Papa. Jack experienced joy in seeing his great grand-children thrive and prayed for their salvation and that of the world they would inherit.
Jack touched and enriched many lives through so many channels including through his school years at Cass Tech, his military service in the Army, Air Force Reserve, as a Birmingham Volunteer Firefighter, softball coach, bowling partner, fisherman, hunter, Indian Guide, Lion's Club member, family member and friend.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 3 pm - 8 pm at the Wm. Sullivan and Son funeral home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blks. E. of Van Dyke) in Utica. (48317) Jack will be buried in his beloved red wings jersey. Please feel free to wear your red wings, lions, tigers or piston gear in honor of Jack. ??
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home the following day, Monday, December 9, 2024, with visitation at 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am. A burial will take place immediately following the service at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Oakland Charter Township, Michigan (4701 North Rochester Road).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial donations be made out to either the Troy Community Lions Club at: or Leader Dogs for the Blind at: .
