Shirley J. Gombert

Shirley J. Gombert passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at the remarkable age of 102.

Shirley was born on December 27, 1923, to Pearl and Frederick Bahr. She lived a long and meaningful life centered around faith, family, and the simple joys that brought her happiness.

She was the loving mother of Carol (Ron) Pietrantoni and Judy Gombert. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ronald Bahr.

Shirley had a deep love for music and enjoyed spending quiet moments reading. Her faith was important to her, and she often found comfort in watching Christian television. She also had a keen eye for numbers and enjoyed bookkeeping.

A dedicated and hardworking woman, Shirley spent many years in retail and served as the head cashier at Lord & Taylor from 1978 until her retirement in 1991. She was known for her reliability, kindness, and strong work ethic.

Shirley will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to her family, and the many years of memories she shared with those who loved her.

A visitation will take place at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd. (3 Blks E. of Van Dyke), Utica, on Thursday, March 12th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Shirley.
