Jack Norton Christensen

Jack N. Christensen (27 May 1933 - 23 November 2022), age 89, Sparta, WI, is now with Christ Jesus his Lord and Savior.
Jack was born in Mauston, WI, to Chester E. and Tyla M. Christensen and raised on the family farm in Lone Rock, WI, before moving into town in New Lisbon, WI, in early childhood. He graduated from New Lisbon High School in 1951, and attended Juneau County Teacher's College and Biola University in Los Angeles, CA. May 30, 1964, he married Carolyn S. Degler.
Jack's careers included teaching; military service; sales (Christian book, advertising, and antiques); the ministry (serving as a pastor fulltime in North Dakota and later in Wisconsin); and auctioneering. Jack was blessed with a quick mind and excellent command of the English language stemming from childhood when he completed a book report on the dictionary. He was a talented writer and an excellent crossword puzzle solver as well as a formidable Scrabble or chess opponent. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a soft spot for animals including squirrels and hunting dogs. In December 1953, he held the distinction of Best Rifle Shot in Co-C, 1st M.T.B. Jack relished a good cup of coffee with his friends or dining out at local restaurants or Chinese or American buffets with Carolyn and/or his children. Jack enjoyed watching sports, especially with his children and wife or his brothers-in-law. He also liked to watch his children and/or grandchildren in church and school programs and sports activities. Jack and his family found great pleasure in all the friendships they made at their auctions and in Sparta WI.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Chester E. and Tyla M. (Norton) Christensen. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn, and four children: Heather, Kyle (Glenda), Erik, Shawn; grandchildren (Erik Drew (Megan), Jessica, Drake, Trent, Cameron (Christie), Alexis, Falicia, Jaeson, Emily); great-grandson Asher; brother Calvin (Maree); extended family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service to be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church in Sparta, WI. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. till the time of service with Pastor Mike Ohman officiating.
