Jack Consolini, 89, passed away at his home on August 8th. He was surrounded by his loving family. Jack is survived by his dedicated wife of 60 years, Joyce.

Jack was the son of Pasqualina (Mantovani) and Giacomo Consolini, and brother to Julia Begin (deceased), Dominic Consolini (deceased), and Gildo Consolini. He leaves his daughters Eileen Meade (Jeffrey), Susan Szabo (Richard), Lisa Champigny (David), Melanie Felladore (Scott), Amy Cardello (Michael), son Scott Consolini (Leslie), son-in-law Paul Beechinor, and bonus son Michael Yuchunis. He is predeceased by his son John Consolini, daughter Jacqueline Beechinor, and granddaughter Jocelyn Beechinor and he is survived by grandchildren, Michael, Paul Jeffrey (PJ), Jessica, Jocelyn, Samantha, James, Anthony, and Sydney (Skidder). He also has eight great-grandchildren that lit up his life. His weekly visits with his great grandsons Lucas and Eli were a source of much laughter and joy in the last years of his life.

Jack served two years in the Marine Corps, where he received the National Defense Service Medal of Honor. He was a proud US Marine and was known to reminisce by loudly and proudly belting out the Marine Corps hymn.

During his high school years, Jack played varsity basketball and was the varsity starting baseball catcher. Jack was an avid fisherman, bowler, hunter, and a card shark who shared his love for the game of gin with many of his children and grandchildren.

He was a past president of the Torrington Fish and Game, a Sub-Senior World Champion Skeet Shooter, a founding member of the Weakapauge Surfcaster’s Fishing Club, and a lifetime member of the Hartford Gun Club.

Throughout his life he loaded many a shotgun shell, watched countless UCONN Women’s basketball games, enjoyed endless hours socializing with his friends at Dunkin’ Donuts, and tied thousands of intricate fishing flies, which he enthusiastically shared with future fly fisherman.

Jack enjoyed a dedicated career in construction, beginning with the O&G Corporation and proudly retired after many years with the Sard Corporation.

Jack had a larger than life personality and lived life to the fullest… he certainly did it “his way”.

Per Jack’s request, the family will be honoring his incredible life in a private ceremony at his favorite fishing spot on the Cape. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Jack and Joyce’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
