Robert Thomas "Bob" Consolini, 92, of Valdosta, GA died on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Langdale Hospice House. Bob was born in Springfield, MA to the late Thomas Consolini and Genevieve Colligan Consolini. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1949 and then Perry Business School. He served as an airman jet mechanic in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Shortly after Bob moved to Moody Air Force base in Valdosta, he met the love of his life Kathryn Griffin, and they married in 1955. Bob held a variety of jobs (Union Camp, Owens Illinois, Kevco) prior to joining Valdosta State University as an Administrative Manager in 1975. He retired from VSU in 1995 after 20 years of dedicated service. Bob was a faithful member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, serving as an usher for over 50 years and serving on the Parish Council, the church's governing body. Additionally, he was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4913 where he served two terms as Grand Knight and led the organization of 60 members to earn the Star Council Award in 1971. Bob enjoyed being part of the local Italian American Club where he also served one term as president. He was well known throughout the community for his leadership and sense of humor.
Bob and Kathryn enjoyed an active social life at the Elk's Club and Knights of Columbus events. They became huge Atlanta Braves baseball fans and would travel to the Orlando area in March to catch some Spring Training games. Bob and his buddies liked to watch football on Sunday afternoons. Vacations consisted of beach trips and visits to relatives in Fayetville, NC, Nashville, TN and Enfield, CT. He took pride in working around his home and yard. Bob also spent time mentoring his children, Lisa and Vincent, and later in life enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. He was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all the people he touched.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Kathryn Griffin Consolini, of Valdosta; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa & Drew Sills of Roswell, GA; his son and daughter-in-law, Vince & Tish Consolini of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Andrew (& Sarah) Sills, Austin (& Katie) Sills, Paul (& Darby) Consolini and Anna Consolini; three great grandchildren, Buddy & Pete Sills and Ellie Tate Sills.
