Jack Diggs Obituary

Jack William Diggs, age 93, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away in McAllen, Texas on February 5, 2026.

Jack was born September 23, 1932 on Carmel Ridge Road in Brown County, Indiana. He attended Cottonwood school and graduated from Helmsburg High School in 1951, where he played center for the basketball team. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1952 until 1956.

After a stint installing the new dial telephone systems in central Indiana, Jack went to school in California to obtain an A&E license to become an aircraft mechanic. Upon his return he started his 30+ year career at Trans World Airlines reflecting his life-long passion for aviation. He earned his private pilot's license at age 40. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, and the Mooresville VFW.

He married Barbara Miller of Morgantown in December 1960 in the Morgantown United Methodist Church. They lived briefly in Mooresville before moving to Camby to raise their family. After retirement, they moved to Greenwood and wintered in the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas.

Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years Barbara Ann (Miller); children Terry Ann (Tom) McGarry of Wrightsville, Pennsylvania and Brian (Nadine) Diggs of Vancouver, Washington; grandchildren Julie Wagner, Nicole Wagner, Yasmeen Diggs, and Dalia Diggs; and great-grandchildren Kloe, Derick, and Mikey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond M. Diggs, mother, Margaret E. (Kraft) Diggs, brother, James Edward Diggs, and half-sister, Marion "Betty" Amunrud.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Monday, February 16th at Meredith Funeral Home: 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Air Force and the local honor guard.
