Jack Duffy

Jack Duffy, born John Floyd Seib, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, in Sarasota, Florida, at the age of 94.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, on July 17, 1931, Jack lived in Millburn and Boonton Township, NJ before moving to Sarasota, Florida. Jack served his country in the National Guard before going on to make his mark in the world of auto racing.

An accomplished and fearless driver, Jack's name became synonymous with modified stock cars, sprint cars, midgets, and three-quarter midgets. He achieved countless accolades throughout his racing career, including multiple championships in various categories. One of his most storied achievements was winning the only indoor race ever held at the iconic Madison Square Garden. He also raced at the famed Daytona Speedway and numerous other tracks across the country. Off the racetrack Jack owned and operated his own landscaping business from 1987-2021 and was also a skilled mechanic.

Jack was a proud member of organizations such as NASCAR, the American Racing Drivers Club (ARDC), and the American TQ Midget Racing Association (ATQMRA). His knowledge of and passion for WWII history and aircraft were unmatched, and he was also a devoted fan of classic movies.

Jack is survived by his loving daughters, Laura Lowe (Chris Throckmorton), Rebecca Benjamin (David Benjamin) and Katherine Seib (Courtney Watson), eleven grandchildren and several godchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Floyd John Seib (Patty Seib).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, August 24th from 2:00-5:00 PM at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave, Summit, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, August 25th at 9:30 AM at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 306 Morris Ave, Summit, NJ. Committal services will follow at St. Teresa's Cemetery, 136 Passaic Ave, Summit.

Though family and racing was a central part of Jack's life, he was also deeply kind-hearted and had a soft spot for animals. Jack Duffy lived life in the fast lane, but always with integrity, grace, and determination. His legacy both on and off the track will be remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
