Shawn Patrick Duffy, 42, of Mendota, Illinois, passed away on August 17, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday evening, August 22, 2025 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of the service, at the funeral home.
Born on September 1, 1982, in Ottawa, Illinois, Shawn grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors. For nineteen years, he was a dedicated member of the Ironworkers Local Union 444, where his knowledge and work ethic earned him the respect of his peers.
Shawn was known for his good heart and his ever-ready smile. He found joy and peace in the natural world-hunting, fishing, and trapping were more than hobbies; they were lifelong passions that reflected his love for the land. Whether casting a line or tracking through the woods, Shawn felt most at home under open skies.
Above all else, Shawn was a proud father. He leaves behind his beloved children: Hunter Duffy, Paris Duffy, and Marek Duffy; his love for them was unwavering
He is also survived by his loving parents, Kathy and Dennis Duffy; the love of his life, Alyssa (Zaccagnini) Duffy; his sister, Angel Duffy; his brother Michael Duffy and Michael's wife Brandi; his nephews, Andrew "Drew" (Sarah) Sabia, Keagan Duffy, and Levi Duffy; and his nieces Keira Duffy and Lyla Duffy, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Shawn was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Beverly Rice, and paternal grandparents, Blanche and Harold Duffy;
A man of quiet strength and enduring warmth, Shawn touched many lives with his kindness and authenticity. May treasured memories bring comfort to those who knew him.
