Jack Gagnebin

Jack Joseph Gagnebin, 82, of Abbyville, died August 18, 2025, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. He was born November 29, 1942, in Hutchinson, to Joseph J. and Vesta M. (Bridgeman) Gagnebin.

Jack grew up in Abbyville, Kansas, and graduated from Fairfield North High School in 1961. He attended Hutchinson Community College for one year before joining the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged, Jack returned to Abbyville and took over his father's business, Gagnebin Gas and Oil, delivering fuel to local farmers. He later became a truck driver, hauling cattle for Branson Truck Line in Lyons for a number of years. Jack also enjoyed his time as a USD 310 school bus driver for over 20 years. He loved duck hunting and enjoyed snow skiing and lake activities, mainly driving the boat pulling family and friends. But Jack was most happy with his family around him and attending his grandchildren's activities - his grandchildren were the light of his life. He was a member of Plevna Community Bible Church.

On November 28, 1964, Jack married Sharon L. Dennis, at the Plevna Community Bible Church.

He is survived by: his beloved wife of over 60 years, Sharon Gagnebin of the home; sons, Michael Gagnebin and wife Emily of Wichita, Darin Gagnebin and wife Nancy of Paola; grandsons, Noah and Levi Gagnebin of Wichita, granddaughters, Mckenzie Gagnebin of St. Louis, Missouri, Bailey Gagnebin of Paola; and many extended family members.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marilyn Gagnebin, Alice Nadine Gagnebin, and Joan Loudenback.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Plevna Community Bible Church, with Pastor David E. Green officiating. Private family inurnment will take place later.

Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday thru Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at Plevna Community Bible Church.
