He was born on March 8, 1944, to Pat and Helen Gallagher in Pennsylvania. Jack joined the United States Navy and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was united in marriage to Linda Frye on May 6, 1967, at St. Matthew's Church, Town of Kirby. In his younger years Jack worked for White Pine Copper Mine in Michigan and assisted in construction work. He worked for the City of Tomah Public Works and Utilities for 31 years, until his retirement in 2006. After his retirement he moved to Sun Prairie, and to North Carolina for 8 years to be closer to his grandchildren.
Jack loved sports. If the TV was on, there was a game on. He officiated for many basketball games and softball games in the Tomah Area. He enjoyed cheering for the Badgers, Packers and Brewers. He was a past member of the Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post #201, and helped serve during the fish fries. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and golf. He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Jack is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda; two children, Wendy (Brian) Harrison of Brewster, MA and Wade (Jennifer) Gallagher of Sun Prairie; 2 grandchildren, Monet Harrison and Myles Harrison. He is further survived by his siblings, a brother-in-law, Lyle and sister-in- law, Linda Frye; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sisters.
A Family Service will be held on Wednesday May 21, 2025, 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery with Military Honors by the Grassman-Larson-Sowle-Senz American Legion Post #201 followed by a gathering held at Pizones at 12PM Noon. Linda Frye will officiate. The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered by visiting www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com.
