Jack Richard Griechen, son of Ellen M. (Embrey) Griechen and the late Jack Griechen, was born May 17, 1958, in Springfield, Missouri, and departed this life February 25, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at 67 years of age.

Jack grew up in Seymour, Missouri, and graduated from Seymour High School in 1976. Growing up, he and his brother, John, were very active in Boy Scouts. After graduation, Jack went to work at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, as a Surgical Orderly for a couple years. He then joined the United States Army in 1978 and faithfully served his country for three years of active duty, mostly stationed in Germany. After his military service, Jack attended Vatterott College and studied business.

For many years, Jack was very active in fire and rescue as a volunteer at the Seymour Fire Department. Jack worked in building maintenance for a few different companies in the Springfield, Missouri, area. Later, he also worked in maintenance at Emerson in Ava, Missouri, and also at the Marshfield Casket Company. After his dad passed away in 2000, Jack fell while helping his mom and suffered a major hip injury that left him disabled.

One of Jack’s favorite hobbies was going fishing with his parents. He also loved shooting sports, and enjoyed shooting at Busiek State Park in Spokane, Missouri, and Caney Mountain in Gainsville, Missouri. He also enjoyed building computers and working with technology. He was an avid gamer and enjoyed gaming with his nephew, Matthew Griechen. Jack was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack Griechen, and two uncles, Kenneth “Red” Embrey and Charles Embrey.

He is survived by his mother, Ellen Griechen of Seymour, Missouri, one brother, John Griechen of Seymour, Missouri, one nephew, Matthew Griechen of Seymour, Missouri, one uncle, Clyde Embrey of Springfield, Missouri, and numerous extended family and friends.
