Larry Hume

Larry Hume, the eldest son of Lawrence and Reba (Looper) Hume (deceased) was born at PeeWee crossing east of Seymour, Mo. on August 22, 1939. He passed away February 18, 2026 at home in Seymour, Mo. with loved ones near.

Larry graduated from Seymour with the class of 1958. Larry leaves behind his wife Jackie (Jones) Hume of the home; son Michael and Elizabeth Jones; 6 grandkids and 8 great grandkids. Also, Michael's brother John Small of Las Vegas; his in-laws Bud and Betty, sister-in-law Diane and 3 extended grandkids.

Larry's siblings include a sister Gail, brother Jerry and wife Kathy, brother Bob and wife Joy, brother Damon and wife Letha (deceased), brother Rick and wife Christy, sister Lawrencette, brother Dennis (deceased), sister Karen (deceased) and Sheila (deceased). He alos leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and his lifelong friend Huck Huckaby.

Larry had many job titles; construction with his dad and brothers, Kraft, plumbing with Sonny Vaness and Wendell Fann, 2 service stations and helped start Fenco Foot Wear in Hartville, Mo during which time he was called to the Army. While Larry was serving, Fenco shut down. Larry went on to work for Brooks propane and married Jackie, and together, they and had a family. He loved his job, most of all it was his customers. He really enjoyed the elderly. Larry was saved at Ronnie Baker's church in Mansfield. He loved his family so much, but he really loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to spending time with them. His daily routine was the Hot Spot in Seymour as he wanted to win the Power Ball so he and Jackie could help others. He also could often be found going out for coffee so he could visit with friends. After his last surgery in June 2025, he had quit drinking coffee but he held Seymour and the people close to his heart. Larry was very proud of his Scottish heritage.
