Jack Hamby, was a cherished soul who walked the Earth with a heart full of faith, a spirit brimming with humor, and hands skilled in all things handy. Born on September 27, 1934, Jack was a beacon of light and strength to his beloved family and community until his peaceful passing, at his residence; on December 18, 2025, with his daughters at his side.

The patriarch of a loving family, Jack was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Betty Hamby, and his brothers, Noyal, Willie, and Sherman Hamby. His memory will be forever cherished by his surviving daughters, Vicki Hamby-Scott and Shelia Fallin (married to Randy). His legacy continues through his brother, Rex Hamby, and his sisters, Shelby Daniels, Linda McHan, Rose Mary Ponder, Margie Yates, and Cherry Hamby. Jack's joy was multiplied through his adoring grandchildren-Hannah Odom (Wyatt), Madeline Andrus (Steven), Nathan Fallin (Angie), Ashley Wester (Matt), Joshua Fallin (Elayna), Christian Atchley (Bailey), and Micah Fallin (Tanner)-and his great-grandchildren, Ruby Fallin, Ty Williamson, Miley Fallin, and Ellis Atchley, who will carry forward his love and teachings.

For most of his life, Jack was a skilled welder, a profession that showcased his dedication and work ethic. His service extended beyond his professional life as he was an integral part of his community. Jack's passion for service was evident through his volunteer work as a firefighter with the Cleveland Fire Department. He also contributed to the beauty and upkeep of the Cleveland Park, ensuring that it was a place of joy and recreation for families for years to come.

Jack's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life. He served as a Sunday School Superintendent, a testament to his commitment to nurturing the spiritual growth of others. He was a long-standing member of Nectar Baptist Church in Nectar and in his later years attended Pine Grove Baptist Church in Rosa. His love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life, and he often used humor as a tool to spread joy and love to those around him.

An avid Auburn fan, Jack's enthusiasm for his team was infectious, and he could often be found cheering them on with the same passion he devoted to every pursuit. His zest for life was perhaps most evident when he was riding his Harley, a favorite pastime that symbolized freedom and adventure.

Jack's interests were many, but he held a special love for watching his grandchildren play sports, tinkering with lawnmowers and other small engines in his workshop, and teasing and joking with friends and family. These simple pleasures were the fabric of a life well-lived, one filled with laughter, love, and the joy of everyday moments.

As we bid farewell to Jack Hamby, we honor a man whose life was a testament to the values of faith, family, and service. His memory will be a guiding light to all who knew him, and his stories will be told with smiles and warmth for generations to come. Jack's journey on Earth has ended, but his spirit soars high and free, leaving a legacy of love that will never be forgotten.
