Jack Hamilton of Lake Wales, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, in Winter Haven, Florida. He was born on April 18, 1935, in Port Huron, Michigan, and lived a life rich with love, dedication, and service.
Jack honorably served in the military for six years before embarking on a fulfilling career with the U.S. Postal Service, where he dedicated 13 years as Postmaster in Lake Wales before retiring in 1990. His commitment to serving others extended beyond the post office; he also worked at Johnson Funeral Home for 25 years and contributed his talents to Quest Diagnostics. A Paul Harris Fellow and 47-year member of the Rotary Club of Lake Wales and the National Association for Postmasters, Jack was deeply engaged in his community, where he also volunteered at Lake Wales Hospital.
As a lifelong Gators fan, Jack found joy not only in sports but also in his family. He was especially beloved as a grandfather, cherishing every moment spent babysitting his grandchildren and traveling with his family. His devotion to family extended to his active participation in his church, as a Mason, and through his continued support of those around him.
Jack shared a remarkable 70 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Miriam Anna Ausbury, whom he married on November 26, 1955. Together, they created a loving home filled with warmth and happiness. He is cherished and survived by his wife, Miriam; daughters, Jacqueline R. Timm of Lake Wales, Lisa G. Floyd and husband Jamie of Winter Haven, April S. Eperjesi and husband Andrew of Winter Haven; sons, Steven W. Hamilton and wife Ella of Winter Haven, and Timothy B. Hamilton Sr. and wife Donna of Bartow. Jack’s legacy continues through his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will forever hold his spirit in their hearts; and his sister, Ruth A. Harneck of Jeddo, Michigan.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, John S. Hamilton, and Hazel Wolfe; sister, Betty M. Hutchinson; and brothers, Robert J. Hamilton and William F. Hamilton.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM until the funeral service at 5:00 PM at Impact Church of Lake Wales. Private interment will be held at a later date at the Florida National Cemetery.
