Jack Lawton Houk, 71, of Gardner Center Road in Shenango Township, died Monday, August 7, 2023 at Butler VA Medical Center. He was born in New Castle on September 17, 1951 a son of the late Willard and Carolyn (Lawton) Houk. Mr. Houk married Deborah Susan (Burns) Houk on January 27, 1973, she survives in New Castle. He worked as a technician for Comcast, retiring after 38 years. Mr. Houk was a United States Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW, and former Commander, Post 315. He loved riding his motorcycle and was a member of the US Military Veterans Motorcycle Club, where he was also the past president, and the Duke's Motorcycle Club. Mr. Houk loved going on cruises, singing and listening to Elvis and Frank Sinatra, and being around people. He played in a band, Layd Back Johnny and Jake Ellwood, he was a drummer and singer. Above all, he loved watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with them.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Jennifer N. Kraner, five grandchildren, one brother, Willard Houk, Jr., and one sister, Barbara Bradley all of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Kenzie M. Houk and one brother, Russell Houk.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 14, 2023 from 3PM to 6PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Funeral services will be celebrated Monday, August 14, 2023 at 6:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. VA Chaplin, Perry Haagen, will officiate. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home at 6PM. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
