Jack Donald Laing, 90, of Dawson , GA , passed away peacefully Thursday, December 11, 2025 at The Willson Hospice House with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 2:00 pm at The Dawson Methodist Church. Mr. T. Gamble will officiate. A private family interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Laing was born in Dawson , GA and resided there all of his life. He graduated from Terrell County High School in 1953 and attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College . Mr. Laing was a member of Dawson Methodist Church and was on the Board of Directors at The Bank of Dawson for 51 years. He was engaged in farming prior to becoming a business owner. He was in business for over fifty years and owned and operated Laing Implement Company, Jack’s Farm Toys, and Laing Hardware and Lumber Company. During his lifetime, he served on the founding board of Terrell Academy and also on the Terrell County Hospital Authority. He had a life long passion of collecting John Deere memorabilia.
In addition to his parents, Merrill Radford Laing and William Gregg Laing, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Chambless Laing.
Survivors include his son, Don Laing (Marianna) of Dawson, GA and Tammy Merritt (Richard) of Weston, GA, his grandchildren, Will (Erica) Laing and Wes (Aida) Laing of Dawson, GA and Ashley Merritt of Weston, GA , his great-granddaughter, Macy Laing, and great grandsons, William and Tripp Laing. He is also survived by his caregiver, David Walton, of Dawson , GA.Pallbearers are Jay Law, Kirk Law, Mike Faust, Robbie Faust, David Peeler and David Walton.
