Jack Clayton McGinnis, 77, of Old Fort, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025.
Jack was born in Old Fort, NC on June 21, 1948, to the late Mary Owensby and Elmer McGinnis. He was married to the late Doris Hollifield McGinnis, his wife of 50 years, until her passing in 2022. Jack served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict era. He was a member of numerous hunting clubs and was an avid coon hunter who raised world champion Walker Coon Hounds. Jack was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was loved by many. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife and parents, Jack was preceded in death by a son, Scott Clayton McGinnis; and four brothers, Charles McGinnis, Fred Owensby, Lawrence Owensby, and Dan McGinnis.
Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Jimmy McGinnis (Alina); four grandchildren, James Dean McGinnis, Antonio Lee McGinnis, Ellie Lorelei McGinnis, and Silas Walker; and numerous great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
