Jack P. Moore
1935-2025
Jackie Pratt Moore, of Longview, passed away on November 12, 2025. Jack was born in Paris, Texas, on June 30, 1935 to Gordon and Eva Moore. Soon after he was born, the family moved to Clarksville, Texas, where he spent his childhood.
Jack graduated from Clarksville High School and then briefly attended North Texas State College before transferring to The University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with a chemical engineering degree in 1958. While Jack was completing his degree, he worked two summers at Texas Eastman. After Jack earned his degree, he returned to working at Texas Eastman and completed 40 years of dedicated service in the cracking plant before retiring in 1998. It was at Texas Eastman where Jack formed many lasting friendships and met his wife, Felicia.
Jack and Felicia built a beautiful life together and had two sons, Michael and Brian. Jack was a devoted father attending his sons' soccer games, Boy Scouts of America award ceremonies, school functions, and anything important to his boys. Later, Jack and Felicia were blessed with a granddaughter, Brooke, born on Jack's birthday. Jack and Brooke enjoyed playing board games together and Jack rarely won a game. This year's birthdays were special as Jack turned 90 and Brooke turned 21.
A lifelong Presbyterian, Jack was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Longview for nearly 60 years. He served as deacon, elder, trustee, and on many committees, but his calling was to the building and grounds committee. Jack, along with the other members of the committee, lovingly took care of the facility for many years.
Jack possessed a remarkable breath of knowledge and a natural gift to fix almost anything. He never gave up on a problem until it was solved, always showing his perseverance in everything. Jack was always adventurous, trying everything from water skiing, snow skiing, scuba diving, canoeing, and flying a plane. One of his most meaningful adventures was traveling to Haiti on a mission trip with Living Waters for the World to supply fresh water to an orphanage.
His favorite pastimes were spent traveling to Austin to visit his sons and granddaughter, traveling with friends and family to snow ski in Colorado and Utah, plus taking yearly trips to MoRanch to the Men's Conference each May, which he attended for more than 30 years with friends. Jack and Felicia thoroughly enjoyed beach trips and cruises with longtime friends. For nearly 60 years, Lake Cherokee was his weekend getaway where he enjoyed many wonderful times with family and friends.
Jack served his community in many ways through United Way, Meals on Wheels, Longview Community Ministries, Stew Pot, and Boy Scouts of America Troop 201. He was a longtime member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), a 63-year member of the Lodge 404 of Longview, a Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriner, and Longview Jaycees.
Always a true Texan and Longhorn, Jack was loyal, opinionated, entertaining, and a strong advocate for faith, family, and friends.
Jack is survived by his brother Donnie (Chris) of DeKalb; his loving wife of 58 years, Felicia; his sons, Michael (Erin) of Bee Cave and Brian (Cristia) of Austin; his granddaughter, Brooke of Fort Worth and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Longview on Monday, November 17 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be Sunday, November 16 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
