Jack Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kyker Funeral Homes - Kingston on Feb. 16, 2026.
Jack C. Moore passed away peacefully on February 11th, surrounded by his loving children, at the age of 85, after a long and courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimer's. Born on January 24th, 1941, in Roane County, Jack could be found just about every morning at the Handee Burger for breakfast with his friends in the Handee Burger Gang.

Jack loved many things in life, none more than his family. Jack prioritized his family above everything else in his life, only second to his Lord and Savior, and embraced the joys and responsibilities of family life. He committed to attending every sporting event, school event, recital, scouting ceremony, and graduation for all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, proudly serving as their biggest cheerleader. He was a fervent fan of the University of Tennessee sports, serving as an usher for the Vols' home football games for several years and attending various sporting events. He enjoyed attending Tennessee Smokies baseball games regularly. Jack was also an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and attended as many races at Bristol as he could with his family. In his final months, he enjoyed sitting on his back porch in his rocking chair with his wife, Nancy, watching the birds and wildlife.

In the U.S. Army, Jack served as a paramedic during the Vietnam War era, dutifully serving our country. He founded the Edgewood Baptist Church in Kingston, where he served as pastor for over 10 years. Retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Jack worked as a rural letter carrier for 32 years and served for over 40 years for the National Rural Letter Carrier Union as a steward, officer, and president, showing his dedication by never missing a State or National Convention. Within the State Conventions, he served on every committee, demonstrating his exceptional engagement and devotion.

Although he has left behind his six beautiful children, 14 precious grandchildren, and 17 treasured great-grandchildren, he will always be in their hearts and minds for the rest of their lives. A patriarch like Jack is rare, one who's so generous, smart, and kind. A father like him is one everyone needs, full of love and laughter, jokes and wisdom, kindness and understanding.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lydia Moore; his sister, Gertrude Woody; his grandchildren, Josh and Jessica Hensley; and his daughter-in-law, Tracey Moore.

Jack is survived by his wife, Nancy Moore; his children and their spouses: Mike Moore, Mark Moore, Sonia (James) Dockery, Jennifer (Tyler) Lawson, Bob (Mary Beth) Spaulding, and John (Patricia) Spaulding; his grandchildren: Joey, Amanda, Bryan, John Mark, Brittney, Rebecca, Danielle M., Danielle R., Britney, MyKal, Courtney, Nathan, Noah, and Preston; and his great-grandchildren: Sara Beth, Ryleigh, Corbin, Myley, Natalie, Memphis, Alexsys, Kalista, Peyton, Rylee, Abby, Emma, Aria, Karson, Jesse, Joshua, and Elijah.

The funeral with military honors will be held at Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston, TN, with the receiving of friends on Thursday, February 19th, from 5 pm to 7 pm, followed by a service at 7 pm. The graveside service will take place at Tennessee Chapel Baptist Cemetery on Friday, February 20th, at 11 am, with the processional to the cemetery leaving Kyker Funeral Home at 10 am. Kyker Funeral Home of Kingston is serving the Moore Family.
