Frederick Harvey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kyker Funeral Homes - Kingston on Feb. 16, 2026.
Frederick Dale Harvey "Freddie," 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 15, 2026. Freddie was born in the Harvey House/Hotel in downtown Kingston on May 12, 1934. There was dancing in the parlor, and the circus was in town, and Freddie knew that he was going to like it here.

Freddie was a very happy man, often seen smiling and humming or singing. He loved life and reminisced saying to family, "We had fun!" He loved God, his family, and was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He lived on the family farm in Grassy Cove near Crossville. When he was five, his family moved to Indiana where his father had more job opportunities. When he was age 10, they heard that they were hiring at the "Project" which was Oak Ridge, so the family moved back home.

Freddie graduated from Roane County High School and attended Tennessee Wesleyan, UT, and Roane State. He was a lifelong learner, and one of the first people in Kingston to learn how to use a computer.

Freddie worked at all three Oak Ridge plants, Y-12, K-25, and X-10, and also served in the US Army from 1954-1956. He owned Rare Earth Realty in Kingston where he was a broker and then later was a landlord. Freddie loved being on Watts Bar Lake and was the captain of his houseboat the "Annabelle."

Freddie was a lifelong member of Kingston United Methodist Church. He most recently enjoyed being part of the Men's Bible Study group that met weekly. Freddie loved God and could frequently be heard saying, "The best is yet to come." He even witnessed to the doctors during his recent stay at Roane Medical Center, and as one doctor was leaving the room, Freddie shook his hand and said, "See you in paradise."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Crystal Harvey; and his sister Brenda Harvey Sanderson. He is survived by his wife, Annabelle Stegall Harvey, who he constantly said was the love of his life. Throughout their 44-year marriage, he could be heard singing her name. He often said that she was his reward for all of his earthly toil. He is also survived by his children, Lucy (Richard) Griffey, Jennie (Doug) Ramey, and Richard (Debbie) Haile; sister, Betty Harvey (Joe) Guinn; grandchildren, who fondly knew him as "Papa Freddie," Charles Ramey, Anna (Chris) Spurling, Bethany Haile, Clark, Jesse, and Morgan Griffey; one baby great-granddaughter, Amelia Jane Spurling, who he was especially fond of; and special nephews, Duane (Lisa) Davis and Mike Davis; great nephew and great nieces, Carson and Lauren Davis and Maggie Davis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Kingston United Methodist Church (KUMC) 212 W. Church St. Kingston, TN 37763.

Freddie's service will be held on Wednesday, February 18 at 1:00pm at Kingston United Methodist Church. Kyker Funeral Home of Kingston is serving the Harvey Family.
